Dennis Ashby, 62, passed away unexpectedly Thursday at Crouse Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.. He pledged Kappa Chapter at Syracuse University in 1968, he was on the line of the magnificent seven. Dennis was the go to counselor at EOC. An all around athlete he was an avid bowler, he enjoyed racquet ball, putt-putt golf, basketball and running. A true Syracuse, Giants and Yankee fan.
Dennis left an ever lasting impression on all he met. His smile will remain in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his wife, of 36 years, Kitty, daughter, Krystal and granddaughter, Zakyra. He is also survived by recently found daughter, Jeanne Jefferson Moss, grandson, Justin Moss and granddaughter, Taylor Moss, which he welcomed into the family with loving arms. As an only child, Kitty's family took on the roles of his family, he is survived by Joe (Joanne) Gaspe, Sandie (Pat) Foster, Chuck (Lisa) Gaspe, Debbie (Bob) Dillabough, Henry Gaspe and Wendy (Dave) Newman. Lifelong friends Steve (MaryDale) Lange, Dan(MaryJo) Deinhart and Russ(Cindy) Mangicaro. As well as many cousins.
Dennis will join his parents and in-laws(Gaspe) as another angel watching over us.
Services will be Thursday, 10AM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 1-4PM and 6-8PM at the funeral home.
