Delbert C. Hoyt, Sr., born in Hastings, NY, on Novemer 5, 1934 to the late Clarence and Florence (Wescott) Hoyt, died peacefully on 9/25/2020 at home after a long illness.
He is predeceased by two brothers; three sisters; an infant son, Gene Roger Hoyt; great grandaughter Faith Hope Love; and a grandaughter, Nichole Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Tyler Hoyt; three daughters, Bernadine (James) Devlin, Tina (Merle) Smith, Barbara (Thomas) Belson; one son Delbert (Paulette) Hoyt Jr.; a sister Bertha Watson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Del was a happy man who loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He always had a smile for everyone and loved to laugh and joke around. He enjoyed watching classic old western movies, fishing, camping, golf, nature, and watching the birds and squirrels at the bird feeder outside his window. He retired from Mexico School District as a bus driver and Battle Island State Golf Course in Fulton, NY. He also worked many years at Twin Mills Lumber in Central Square.
He served in the U.S Air Force as a military policemen. He was a member of the American Legion Post 915 in Central Square and the Lions Club in Mexico and Central Square. He belonged to the Calvary Baptist Church in Brewerton for many years.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, 9/30, 12pm-2pm with a service to follow at Calvary Baptist Church, 9251 Brewerton Rd, Brewerton, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Hospice of CNY, and the V.A. Hospital.
