On Tuesday, May 18, 2021, Dean A. Biancavilla, AIA, LEED AP, age 66, passed away at home in Village Green, Baldwinsville, NY.
Dean was born on April 15, 1955, in Syracuse, NY to Mildred and Bartolo Biancavilla. He graduated from Phoenix High School, served in the Navy, and then attended New York Institute of Technology in Long Island where he received his Bachelor of Architecture. Dean worked for various architects in the Syracuse area, finally finding his niche at Holmes, King, Kallquist & Associates, LLP, where he practiced his passion, historical preservation architecture, up until his passing. Dean served as Treasurer for Preservation Association of CNY, Founder and Co-Director of Urban Design Center, Inc. in Syracuse, and was involved in various local preservation and urban planning projects/groups.
Dean loved old movies, genealogy, and working on historical preservation projects.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Bartolo, and his mother, Mildred. He is survived by his older brother Barney and wife, Lynn, older brother Perry, and younger sister, Karen Lannie and husband, Nick, as well as cousins, nieces, and a nephew.
No services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Preservation Association of CNY, 930 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13203.
