David Eugene Sturge, 66, departed this life on February 17, 2017 after a short illness.
He was born to Elwood (Woody) Clair and Charlotte Leona Sturge on November 4, 1950.
David grew up in Phoenix, New York and lived in the area all of his life. He enjoyed cooking, playing guitar, singing, and hunting deer. He also drove trucks and enjoyed travelling. He was known for his wit and sense of humor and for making others laugh.
He also served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood (Woody) and Charlotte Sturge; his older brother Walter Clair Sturge; an older sister, Barbara Joan Sturge-Weston and two nieces: Amy Lynn Smith and Tricia (Trish) Anne Glenzer.
He is survived by two sisters; Louise (Jim) Smith and Anne (Mark) Glenzer and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to express its sincere and heartfelt thanks to the staff at Crouse Irving ICU and a special thanks to Dr. Magnuson and to Peter Sinatra, Palliative Care Coordinator, for their compassionate and skillful care of our brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.
