David A. Rude, a dedicated and hardworking dairy farmer, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on March 11, 1948, in Oswego, NY, David led a life characterized by devotion to his family and his vocation.
Throughout his life, David was not only known for his tireless work ethic but also for his generous spirit. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the true essence of community. An outdoorsman at heart, he loved square dancing and found joy in cutting wood, immersing himself in the natural beauty around him.
David proudly served in the Army, demonstrating his commitment to his country. His military service was a significant aspect of his life, shaping the values of discipline and honor that he carried into his civilian endeavors.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Virginia M. Rude; sons, David (Ang) Rude and Shawn Rude; step-sons, Scott, John, and Mark Gower; and siblings, Elaine (Thomas) Parkhurst, Florence Teachout, Donna (Andy Barton) Johnson, Deborah (Carl) Landphere, Linda (Doug) Denee, and William (Jeffrey) Rude. David also leaves behind many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who will cherish his memory deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Sidney Rude, as well as several siblings: Dorothy A. Robinson, Patricia A. Kushner, Lois F. Wesley, Douglas M. Rude, and John W. Rude and nephew, Joseph Kushner, Jr.
A visitation for David will be held on April 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM, both located at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N Main St, Syracuse, NY 13212.
David A. Rude's legacy will live on through the lives he touched, and he will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
