David L. Lyons

August 15, 1954 — January 9, 2022

David L. Lyons, 67, of Camillus, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, peacefully his sleep. David was born in Punxsutawney, PA on August 15, 1954. David served in the US Air Force and was retired from Onondaga Community College, having worked for Onondaga County for over 30 years.

David was a man of many talents. He loved creating his own art and expressing his ideas and admirations through drawings and paintings. He shared his words, emotions, and feelings through his guitar and the composition of his own music. David was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting at his camp, fishing at nine-mile creek, and rockhounding for Herkimer diamonds and other natural minerals. He loved being outside in the forest, watching wildlife, surrounded by the earth, where he was able to feel one with nature. David was also a man of all trades. He had the natural ability to fix anything and solve any problem that was thrown at him. He was a teacher at heart and loved sharing his knowledge with everyone and anyone that crossed his path. He enjoyed playing cards, dice, and many other games, as well as collecting coins and other valuables. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, whom he was so proud. He was a very generous man, always thinking of others, always giving. He was quick witted and funny, always making people smile. His laugh was contagious, his smile beautiful. Most of all, David had a pure, amazing, and giving soul. Without question, he was always there for everyone, family, friend, or stranger. He believed in helping others and would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed him. He was a truly amazing man, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He had the heart of a child, the soul of a giver, and the wisdom of a thousand years. He will be deeply missed by everyone. David was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Lyons and his brother, Dick Boisseau.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Lyons, sons, Jason (Courtney) Lyons and Jeffrey (Rebecca) Lyons, daughter, Sarah Lyons (Kent Kowalski), grandchildren, Avery, Addison, and Aubrey Joy, brothers, Tommy Nash and Jeff Kenyon, sister, Nancy Smith, mother, Sarah (Barnett) Lyons, sisters, Edith Buttaro, Rachel Piscitell, and Esther Lyons, along with many nieces and nephews.
