David L. Kimpland, 66, of DeWitt, after a long courageous battle with lung disease, passed on his birthday with family and friends beside him. Devoted husband, father, grandfather and dedicated friend, he was known as a selfless, "Man of his word." He was born in Syracuse, a lifelong resident of CNY and was a graduate of Central Tech High School. David was a former member of the Masons and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. An avid boatman and fisherman, he enjoyed spending summers at his Henderson Harbor camp with his family and friends, telling stories and spending time on his boat, the Marabelle V.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Neola, 3 children; Jeffrey (Renee Miller), Amber King (Michael Caccamo), Mathew (Lea Smith) and 13 grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services will be held on Thursday 11am at the funeral home.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Joseph's College of Nursing, Attn. Connie Semel, 206 Prospect Ave., Syracuse, NY 13203.
