David K. Engebretsen

February 4, 1945 — November 8, 2020

On Saturday, November 8, 2020, David K. "Engo" Engebretsen, loving husband and father, of Hastings, NY passed away at the age of 75.

David was born on February 4, 1946 in Watertown, NY to Edward and Eleanor (Keet) Engebretsen. They moved to West Monroe, NY in 1953. He graduated from Paul V. Moore High School in 1963. On September 16, 1963 he and Charlene "Charkie" (Tanner) Engebretsen were married. They raised two daughters, Theresa (Dennis) Green and Tammy (Herbert) Goulet and two sons, Troy (Kristie) and Terry (Christy)

Dave retired after 30 years from Chrysler Corporation as a tool maker. He then would go on and bulid and operate his family sawmill business for the next 28 years, "Engebretsen's Sawmill". He also would go on to drive school bus for 5 years at Mexico School District. Dave was a volunteer fireman for Hastings Fire Dept and started the Hastings Boyscouts Troop 711.

Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, playing horseshoes, cards and traveling places with Charkie on their Honda Goldwing trike.
Most of all, he loved spending time with family, friends and his dogs. Those who knew him called him "Engo". He was known for his charming and cheerful personality.

Dave was preceeded in death by his father, Edward and mother, Eleanor and grandson, Josh.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene; four children, Theresa, Tammy, Troy and Terry; sister, Carol Foster; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
