David Wayne Bartlett
March 14, 1964 — November 12, 2017
David Wayne Bartlett, 53, passed away November 12, 2017 at Upstate Medical University.
Dave loved the Giants, and football in general, though that love came no where near his love for his family and friends. He loved to take pictures of nature almost as much as he loved taking pictures of his family. He loved being outside, camping or playing golf.
Dave was a mischievous child that grew into a loving, altruistic man. He was full of so many stories about when he had been naughty, like when he put a bobby pin in the electrical socket at his grandmother's house during nap time. Of course, these same stories also showed his other personality traits. He took care of himself at only 3, coating his hands in Vaseline and covering them with oven mitts as though that wouldn't make his grandma suspicious. I believe he found a kindred spirit in his grandson, Oliver. His 'little buddy' is a curious, mischievous boy Dave was so happy to be able to see almost every day. They had their own routines, and no one knew how to handle Oliver's wildness quite like Dave.
He married Sarah, the love of his life on October 11, 1991. They were married for 26 wonderful years and loved to vacation together on the coast when they could.They shared a love of birds, both enjoying the pictures Dave would take of the Loons on the lake they visited regularly in Forestport, NY. They had two children together that Dave was always very protective of. He was so proud of his family.
Dave was a smart, gentle giant. He had a way with numbers in particular, and was even better at handling people. He was the most patient person I knew. The most vicious thing he ever did was curse at his tools under his breath when they wouldn't work. He was 'jovial' at work, I'm told, and we will all remember his small, heartfelt smile.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; two children, Hannah and Hope; two grandchildren, Oliver and Moira; two siblings, Kathy, Daryl and Catie.
He is predeceased by his parents, John Bartlett and Caroline Guy.
Memorial Service will take place on December 2, 2017 from 2pm-5pm at Beaver Lake Nature Center, 8477 Mud Lake Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
