After a valiant fight, Daryl Ann Binnig, 75, of Syracuse, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on October 13, 2022.
Daryl was born in Akron, Ohio on August 10, 1947 to the late Louis and Patricia Hollingshead.
She was a generous and giving woman who took great joy in showering her 11 grandchildren with abundant Christmas gifts, giving them handmade items she bought (at a price she haggled for) from a local market, baking cookies with them, bargain hunting at garage sales and estate sales with them, and attending as many of their sporting events and theater productions as she could.
She also loved music and loved to shop. Her home always had a musical backdrop, from Jewish songs of celebration to her church family's service to Robin Mark's Celtic worship. The joy she experienced when she found a good bargain was only eclipsed by the delight she took in giving away whatever it was she had just bought. She never met a person she couldn't help or a cause she couldn't contribute to.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn A Binnig; her children Jodi McDonald, Patricia (Steven) Sawyer, and Leah (Wade) Haponski; 11 beloved grandchildren: Benjamin, Madison, Celeste and Hannah McDonald; Steven, Glenn, Micah, Peyton and Oliver Sawyer; Lindsay Mumley; and James Haponski; her sister, Sandra (Marvin) Brown, her brother, David Hollingshead; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at Living Word Church, 6099 Court Street Road, Syracuse, with a service to immediately follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Word food pantry. https://livingword.live/living-word-food-pantry/
