Daniel M. "Dan" Hurry Jr.
December 23, 2014
Daniel M. "Dan" Hurry, Jr., 65, of Clay, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday. Dan was born and lived his entire life in Central New York. Dan was the patriarch of his family and believed wholeheartedly in the family bond. He was the glue between multiple family generations and extended family. Dan defined what commitment and dedication could look like to reshape what his future generations could become. He enjoyed sacrificing himself in order to support the family he loved and demonstrated it through the end. Friends and family always knew they could count on him to lend a hand. In addition to Dan's time with family he loved traveling, bowling, casino gambling, golfing and was an avid NY sports fan, led primarily by his love for the Orangemen. He was Syracuse Boys Club Gold Gloves Champion. His love for family and sports were matched as he loved watching his grandchildren play sports, 2 of whom (Tyshawn McBride and Joseph Hurry) were raised by Dan as their father figure.
He retired from New Process Gear after 30 years of service as a machinist.
Dan was predeceased by his parents, Daniel, Sr. and Jean and a sister, Deborah Cook.
Dan leaves behind his loving wife of 45 years, Kathleen; children, Daniel (Julienne) of San Antonio, TX, Brian (Karin) of Clay, NY, Kathy (Aaron) of Mallory, NY, Richelle of Eastwood, NY; grandchildren Joseph,Tyshawn, Christopher, Noelle, Lauren, Andrew, Alex, Amanda, Jacob and Ryan ; siblings Donna, Denise, David and Donald and several nieces and nephews.
