Daniel E. Parker
Daniel E. Parker, 58, of Syracuse, passed away from severe respiratory distress on Tuesday, February 15, 2011. He was preceded in his death by his mother, Dorothy V. and father Edward W. Parker of Liverpool, and his brother James M. Parker of Cicero. Born in Syracuse, Dan grew up in Liverpool where he attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and graduated from Liverpool Senior High School in 1971. He is a veteran of the US Marine Corps with an honorable discharge in the early 1970's. After working for several Syracuse Companies, including Borden's and Syracuse Floral, Dan moved to California in 1975. He lived in San Diego and was employed with a construction company and then a sales organization, where he became a successful salesman. Dan returned to Syracuse in 1995 and left behind many friends in San Diego who have missed him since leaving.
Dan particularly favored animals, loved children and had an uncanny grasp on anything electrical. He was an avid reader with a curious and intelligent mind. His sensitivity and kind nature allowed him to possess a wonderful ability to meet new folks and make them feel like he had known them all their life. His sense of humor was unsurpassed, quick, and will remain unforgettable.
Dan is survived by a sister, Nancy J. Parker of San Diego, CA; two brothers, David A. Skinner of Central Square, and Richard T. "Tom" Parker of North Potomac, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 30, at 11am at New Comer Funeral Home, with a calling hour before from 10-11AM.
