Daniel Donato DeMarco, 84, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon in his Syracuse home. Dan was born in Dunmore, PA on Oct. 14, 1923, son of Angelo and Fiorinda (Pazzichillo) DeMarco. Dan enjoyed a long career with White Tower, ran several of his own restaurants in downtown Syracuse, including Genesee Plaza and Danny's Bar and Grill. He later became chef at Grimaldi's Restaurant. Dan loved softball, fishing, bowling, pinochle, the Yankees and caring for his yard and home. He enjoyed visiting family in Pennsylvania and Alaska, and welcoming friends and family to his home. Dan is survived by his sister Annie (Red) Bridgido, sister-in-law Helen DeMarco, his long-term companion Connie Kline, daughters Patricia DeMarco (Ethan Knapp), Treci Kline and daughter-in-law Terry Traver; grand-children Cynthia and Ken Hudson, Debbi DeMarco, Tammy DeMarco (husband Earl, children Timmy Braun, Amanda Lovejoy), Rachael and Nicole Neilon, Samantha Mothersell, Zakery Kline; nieces Rhoda (Phil) Haluptzok, Johanna (Jerry) Schmidt, Florence (John) Moneymaker, Clara (Jerry) Pellucacci, Sara Bridgido and many much-loved great grandchildren, grandnieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Charles DeMarco, wife (before separation) Doris DeMarco, and grandson Daniel DeMarco. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 4 pm at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home.
