Danette Miro Grim

July 13, 1955 — April 16, 2023

It is with sad and aching hearts we say goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Danette Miro Grim. Danette, 67, of Syracuse, New York, passed away on April 16, 2023 after courageously battling a rare and degenerative neurological condition called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). We will never forget the love and joy she brought to our lives.

Danette was born in Syracuse, New York on July 13, 1955 and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Joanne Katalinic of Lakeland, New York.

Danette was a graduate of Solvay High School and Onondaga College. She had a long career working for multiple manufacturing companies across the country. Danette lived and worked in New York, California, Minnesota, Oregon and finally, Iowa, where she later retired from Wellman Dynamics, after serving as President.

Shortly before her diagnosis, Danette bought and renovated a beautiful retirement beach house on the coast of South Carolina. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cooking, playing golf, watching Major League Baseball, online shopping and drinking a good glass of wine.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Melanie Sprague and her husband Ron Sprague, Kristy Phinney and her husband Terry Phinney; five grandchildren: Alexander, Hope, Cayden, Chase, Ella; and two great-grandchildren: Arturo and Marisela.

There will be a small service and celebration of life for immediate family members in South Carolina on her birthday, July 13, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to CurePSP which can be made online at this link .
