Colleen Hulbert

Colleen Hulbert, 74, of Baldwinsville, passed away on October 7, 2024. She was born in Syracuse, New York, on June 13, 1950 to the late Thomas and Betty Reap.

Colleen graduated from Liverpool High School in 1968 and began her career at the New York Telephone Company. She later worked at Will and Baumer Candle Factory, where she met the love of her life, Jim. Colleen started her nursing journey as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from Central Tech, later earning her Registered Nurse (RN) degree from Onondaga Community College. She furthered her education at Syracuse University, obtaining a Master’s Degree as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatry (PMH-CNS).

Colleen dedicated her career to nursing, serving on 4B at Upstate Hospital, CPEP at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. She also taught at Syracuse University and operated a private practice.

Colleen enjoyed music, art, and theater, playing the drums, guitar, and piano. She cherished her travels to Walt Disney World and took great pride in her Irish heritage. She was an enthusiastic volunteer who participated in her church choir, Literacy Volunteers of America, and the Rape Crisis Center of Syracuse.  Above all, her greatest joy came from her love for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Hulbert; daughter, Shannon (James) Phelps; son, James "Sonny" (Gina) Hulbert; two brothers, Thomas "Jerry" (Joyce) Reap Jr. and Michael Reap; and grandchildren Bryanna and River Hulbert, and Ashley, Sadie, and Chelsea Phelps.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 2-4 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, North Syracuse, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 14, 2024 at 10 AM at St. Stephen's Church in Phoenix, NY, with interment to follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Baldwinsville, NY.
