Clinton Vernon O'Shaughnessy, 94, of Kirkville, went to be with Jesus on Friday after an extended illness. He was born on Long Sault Island on November 12, 1924, son of the late Ross and Ruby O'Shaughnessy.
Clinton's first job in his career was working at the aluminum plant in Massena, NY. After coming to Syracuse in his later teens he worked at Byrne Construction as a laborer. He would then move on to work as a mason for Robert Hazard and subsequently for Congel/Hazard. His last position from which he retired was for John R. Dudley Construction.
He had an artistic flare when working with mortar and a trowel. His expertise with his masonry talent was something he took great pride in. He was a perfectionist and did his best in everything he pursued. Clint enjoyed working outside and gardening. He was the only person we knew that did word search puzzles with a ruler. Clint was a homebody, and loved spending time with his family especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Norma, children, Penny O'Shaughnessy, Clinton O'Shaughnessy Jr., Mary O'Shaughnessy, Marjorie Sherman, son-in-law, Christopher Sherman (SC), grandchildren; Clinton (Lindsey)O'Shaughnessy III, Jared O'Shaughnessy, great grandchildren, Aiden Michael, Angelina Marie, Dominick James, sisters, Elizabeth Rayburn, Verna Wilson, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Joshua Overend, brother, Ansel O'Shaughnessy; two sisters, Velma Sullivan and Betty Hart.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-6pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 North Main St., N. Syracuse. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pine Plains Cemetery, Kirkville.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Fayetteville, Minoa or Bridgeport Ambulance Fund.
