Clayton F. Baker, Sr., 64 of Syracuse died Saturday at Community General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Utica, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Delsie Schumacher Baker. He retired from Lamson Corp following 27 years of service as a machinist and inspector. He was a very active member of AA Columbus Park. He enjoyed his family, travelling, beaches and golf.
He was predeceased by his sister June Menard in 2008.
Surviving are his son: Clayton (Georgia) Baker, Jr. of Brewerton, two daughters; Valerie (Tim) Costello of Kirkville and Danielle (Ryan) McGhee of Syracuse, a sister; Darlene Schlitt of Cortland, seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 am Thursday at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
