Clara B. Pillans, 75, of Fulton, passed away April 28, 2018. Clara was born in Sand Ridge, New York on August 21, 1942 to the late Pirley and Susie Sixberry.
While she lived most of her life in the Fulton area, she spent many years in Kodiak, Alaska. While in Alaska, she worked at Wodlingers Drug Store at the cosmetics counter. Clara and her late husband, Richard owned and operated "Dick's Collison Service". She also was an original Women's Jetett's race car driver at the Brewerton Speedway back in the 60's.
Clara, who was known to her fans as "Country Claire" and "Minie Pearl" enjoyed performing and telling jokes to her fans. She was currently a member of the American Eagle Band and previously with Old Time Country and the Whiskey River Band.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard A. Pillans; Daughter, Terri Simoneonoff.
She is survived by her Husband of 8 years, John Slacker; Sons, Richard (Valerie) Pillans, Scott Pillans and Gary Pillans; Daughter, Sheila Black; Sisters, Robin Hansen and Mildred Clark; Brother, Vernon Sixberry; aunts, Hazel Schaeffer and Florence Banks; fifteen Grandchildren, Devin Hansen, Richard A. Pillans, Andrew Pillans, Trinity Despain, Shannon Minder, Gary Pillans, Jr., Janice Pillans, Tiffany Pillans, Eddie Pillans, Emika Pillans, Kaitlyn Pillans, Steven Pillans, Kordell Pillans, Crystal Briere-Arthur, Renee Briere-Neuharth; many great grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Friday, May 4, from 4-7 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, N. Syracuse. A memorial service will follow at 7 pm.
