Chester (Chet) R. Kupczyk, 80, passed away peacefully at home with family on 18 October 2024 after battling pancreatic cancer since February. Beloved husband, father, Grandpa and Papa to the youngest grandsons, he will be missed. Chet was born in Erie, PA 29 April 1944 to Chester and Frances Kupczyk. He enlisted in the Army in 1962 upon graduation from Cathedral Prep School.
Following an Honorable Discharge as Staff Sgt., he worked for Kaiser Aluminum, Marine Midland Bank and Lyons Transportation. He moved to Rochester, NY in 1981 when he became terminal manager of the Lyons Terminal in Rochester. He lived in Geneva, NY for 10 years where he became interested in a Nursing career. He was accepted to St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and moved to Liverpool, NY graduating in 1995 with his RN degree. Chet enjoyed his 25-year nursing career in homecare and travel nursing, but found working as a Hospice RN the most rewarding of all.
Chet is survived by his wife Carrie (Fannon Ruark) of 38 years, son Joel (Erica) Kupczyk and grandsons Cason and Cohen of Clay, NY; daughters, Michelle Kupczyk of Edinboro, PA and grandson Max Nudi of LA, CA; Jennifer Kupczyk of E. Amherst, NY and grandson Brody and granddaughter Josie; his sister Elayne Lavarone of Erie, PA; Mother-in-law Vesta Breedlove of Erie, PA and brother-in-law Alexander (Kim) Fannon of Union City, PA; two Aunts Louise Kwitkowski and Lenora Zeisler both of Erie, PA, several nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces. In addition to his parents, Chet was predeceased by his sister Judith Berarducci.
Chet enjoyed golfing with family (especially his son and grandsons), and was a member of the FREGA golf league for 18 years at Pine Grove in Camillus, NY serving as an officer for two years.
