Cherry Lee (Rutherford) Hammond, 73, of Pompey, passed away on Wednesday after a long illness.
Cherry was a kind and gentle woman who loved her cats. She had an infectious smile. Cherry worked for 30 years as a scheduler for several different nursing agencies. She loved spending time with her family.
Cherry was predeceased by a sister, Mary Lou Pulaski and a brother, Raymond Rutherford.
Cherry is survived by her husband of 54 years, Russell; three children, Russell (Terri) Hammond, Jr., Wendy Hammond and Stephen (Julie) Hammond; grandchildren, Holly (Chris), Jessie (Eric), Matthew (Penny), Jordan, Dustin, Daniel and Fred; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Sierra, Riley, Piper, Elizabeth, Alex, Cole and Paige; siblings, Dawn Memory, Kenny Rutherford, Jimmy Rutherford, and Betty Jo McDermott and many nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Cherry's wishes, no services will be held.
In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the CNY SPCA.
