In Loving Memory of Charles E. Weeks
1921 - 2017
Charles E. Weeks quietly slipped into God's presence on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the age of 95. He was born in a farmhouse in Springfield Center, New York on July 3, 1921. As a young boy, he would take walks in the woods with his dog or hitch up the horse to the wagon and go for a ride in the fields.
As a young man, he developed a passion for trout fishing and found his way into the United States Army Air Corp where he serviced B-29 bombers in Hawaii until the end of the war.
During that time he sent letters to his sweetheart, Myrtle, who right after the war became his wife. They were married for 67 years before her passing in 2013.
Trained as a tool and die maker he applied his skills to everything from firearms at Remington Arms to the space age technology of printed circuit boards for the American Indium Corporation where he worked until he had a stroke at the age of 86.
He was active in the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church (now Hope Alliance) in Utica where he served as an elder and as a leader in the "Boys Brigade."
He was a loving father to his three children, Gary Weeks, Lowell (Lynda) Weeks and Ellen (Walter) Kowalewsky and is survived by them as well as five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He will be remembered and missed for his diligent service to his Lord, his skill as a craftsman and his role as a loving husband, father and friend to so many people.
Calling hours will be Saturday, January 21 from 3-4:30 PM at New Comer Funeral Home followed by a service at 4:30 PM.
A reception will be held at International Assembly in Jamesville immediately after the service.
Spring burial will be at Springfield Center Cemetery.
