Charles C. Owens, 86, of Brewerton, passed away March 21, 2025, at home, with his family by his side. Charles was born in Syracuse, New York on February 14, 1939 to Clarence and Katherine Owens. Charles had recently lost his cherished wife of almost 58 years on February 4, 2025 and was heartbroken from this loss.
Charles retired from General Motors where he was a forklift driver and then became supervisor. After his retirement, he chose to continue working as a bus driver for many places. Charles drove bus for Loretto transporting residents to their designated appointments. He enjoyed this job so much he sat down and personally wrote out Christmas cards every year for each and every resident he transported. He left Loretto to become a bus driver / maintenance man / cook for Tudor Time Child Car. He loved working there and enjoyed the children. The children referred to him as “Mr. Chuck” and when the children saw him outside of work, they would light up and say its Mr Chuck! He loved them and they loved him. Charles continued this position for many years until he started his bus driving job for First Student. He enjoyed driving bus very much however a stroke in 2013 took his memory away and although he tried he could not remember his route so he retired fulltime.
In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling and his family and friends. Charles didn’t spend much time alone. His wife and he did most everything together. To see one was to see both. He loved life and was happy to have had the gift of living as many he said “do not get that chance to live this long”. He loved music and he loved to whistle. He was referred to as Chuck, Chump, Grumpy, Dad and Pop by his friends, children and grandchildren. He very much enjoyed his kitty cat “Po” and she will miss him terribly.
He was preceded in death by Father, Clarence B. Owens; Mother, Katherine J. Owens; Two Step-Sons, William Atkins, Richard Atkins; Son, Steven Owens; Four Brothers, Leroy Owens, Richard Owens, Donald Owens, Gary Owens; and Three Sisters, Sandra Manipole, Carol Hinman, and Elizabeth Owens.
He is survived by his Three Daughters, Christine (Mark) Ackerman, Cathy (Randy) Isbell, Linda (Robert) Krupka; Two Sons, Charles (Laura) Owens Jr., Mark Owens; Three Step-Sons, Edward Atkins, Jr., Thomas (Stacey) Atkins, Kevin (Chrys) Atkins; several Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren; and many Nieces and nephews.
Per Charles wishes no funeral services will be held. A celebration of life will be planned at a later time.
Christine would like to thank the Hospice team for their exceptional and compassionate end of life care for both her father and her mother during the last few months as well as Dr Augustine and his team.

Final note: Your song may have ended Pop, but the melody lingers on. How lucky we were to have someone that makes saying Goodbye so hard. We hope you’re dancing in the sky with mom. I will miss you forever.
