Charles E. Merriam

February 7, 1955 — September 18, 2021

Charles E. Merriam (Chuck) 66, of North Syracuse, NY passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021, at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness of Covid 19. Born in Syracuse, NY, Chuck graduated from Cicero High School and retired from Crucible Steel after 30 years. After retirement Chuck worked for Lawn Tech as part of their lawn maintenance and snow plowing team for 16 years.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman and loved to travel. He would often mention that his goal in life was to visit all 50 states. He had many stories and met many friends along the way to accomplishing his goal in 2011. On any given day he could be seen riding his Big Dog Chopper along a scenic byway, camping at one of his favorite lakes, trekking to a National Park in his RV, snowmobiling in the winter, or dirt biking or running his four-wheeler in the summer with his friends and crew from the Tug Hill Wheelers, Oswego County ATV club, Square Valley Trailblazers, Highmarket Wheelers, Osceola ATV club, and NYS Snowmobile Association. If he wasn't outside, he was enjoying his time with his family and dogs Colbie, Prince & Andy. You might see him at a karaoke night singing his favorite tune, or on a dance floor, as long as disco was playing or line dancing to country music. We will all miss your laugh, stories and your love.

Chuck is survived by his significant other of 35 years, Anna Mills; his daughter, Cheri (Ed) Hall; his beloved grandchildren, Matthew Reichard and Ezra Romano; his mother, Gertrude Merriam; his sisters and brothers, Betty (David) Weston, Dorothy (Dick) Simonsen, Susan Shaffer, Edward (Linda) Merriam, Lisa (Philip) Kuryla, Rebecca (Roger) Miller, Edgar (Tina) Merriam Jr, Tammy (Russell) Miller; his sister in-law, Debra Merriam and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was predeceased by his father and step-mother Edgar and Pauline Merriam, Sr.; his brother James R. Merriam and step-father Howard Merriam.
