A hundred years into his trip around the solar system, Charles Augustus Masterson Jr. passed away on July 25, 2020.
He was the widower of Olga Krch Masterson. They shared sixty years of marriage.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 9, 1919. He attended Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island and received a degree in accounting. He spent most of his adult life working for the Federal government as a credit union examiner.
He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 during WW II. His service included trips across the North Atlantic on a destroyer escort.
He loved, in no particular order, golfing, listening to the music of Frank Sinatra, horse-racing and swimming a slow side stroke. He spent 80 years as a devoted student of astrology and loved to share his insights with anyone who wanted to learn more about their inner self.
He was predeceased by his wife, Olga, and daughters, Lynn and Gail.
He is survived by his son, Craig Masterson (Mary) of Clifton Park, New York; daughters, Cheryl Masterson (Tom Eckert) of Cape Vincent, New York and Sandra Ward (David) of Verona, New Jersey; son-in-law, Kevin Battersby; as well as his devoted friend, Shirley Bolster, of Syracuse, New York. He had seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family service followed by internment next to his wife at the Onondaga County Veteran's Cemetery.
