Charles W. Leonard
March 21, 2007
Charles W. Leonard, 70, of Clay passed away Wednesday, March 21 at Francis House after a long illness. Chuck grew up in Eastwood, and graduated from Manlius Pebble Hill in 1956. MPH held an important place in his life and he remained very active in their alumni relations program and stayed in contact with many of his school friends. He also attended Syracuse University. Chuck worked in sales and marketing for 30 years with Weston Instruments Aerospace Group. He was very proud that his work with Weston gave him the opportunity to meet and work with many NASA astronauts. He retired as a partner from Horizon Aerospace in 2005.
Chuck was an accomplished pianist and loved spending time at his camp in the Adirondacks. He enjoyed hunting, boating, golf and skiing, but never more so then when accompanied by his son, Brandon. He loved to cook, especially for his family, and took great pleasure in strong opinions and good conversation. Although he had to travel for many years on business, his favorite mode of travel was cruising. Chuck and Susan shared many happy memories of different cruises.
Mr. Leonard is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan (Goetz); his loving son Brandon of Denver; sister, Joyce (Dave) Hutchings of Cazenovia; and brother, Gary Leonard (Susan) of East Syracuse; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, March 31 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Services immediately following at 1:00 PM.
