Charles L. Johnson

Charles "Toby" Johnson, 91 died Thursday. A native of Baldwinsville, he was a well known chef and retired from the Syracuse Corinthian Club in 1984. He was a member of the Baldwinsville First Baptist Church, where he volunteered as "cook" for many church events. He was a Sgt. with the US Army in WWII saw action at Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. An avid runner with the Syracuse Chargers, he was a medalist in the senior division at the Empire State Games for several years.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years the former Grace Wilson, two sons; Toby, Jr. of Williamsville and Douglas (Candace) of Aurora, Ill., five grandchildren: Craig (Kelly), Trey (Jennifer) and Maureen all of Williamsville, Hollie and Tyler Johnson both of Aurora, Ill, three great granddaughters; Morgan, Marnie and Grace, several nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private. There will be no calling hours.
