Charles "Charlie" Robert Bartlett, 79 of Otisco, NY, passed away on February 11, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born in Buffalo to parents, Arthur F. Bartlett and Bertha Prazmark.
He grew up in Cheektowaga and received his B.S. Degree from Buffalo University and his Masters Degree from SUNY Oswego. Charlie moved to Syracuse in 1967 where he secured a job with the Syracuse City School District retiring in 1998. He loved his job teaching the "kids" and not once did he say he didn't want to go to work that day!
He taught Industrial Arts with the last 10 years of his teaching career teaching Computer Aided Drafting and Tech Prep where his students earned college credits at OCC. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman and began his Big Game hunting starting in 1969 when he began tenting and hunting in the Adirondacks.
He hunted all over North America, traveling to Newfoundland, N.W. Ontario and many years in Quebec, Canada. He bagged many moose, caribou, black bear in Canada and trophy white tail bucks in the Adirondacks and Ontario. He started taking his son, Jason, hunting in the Adirondacks when he was 10 and they continued hunting together for over 25 years. He took Jason hunting in Quebec for moose where Jason bagged his first bull moose with his Dad by his side. What a thrill for both of them. He said he was blessed to have a son like Jason.
They also played golf together in a league at Orchard Valley and participated in many golf tournaments.
He also loved fishing with his wife, Marjean, they fished every year after they purchased their boat, casting their lines in waters all over New York State, including Oneida Lake, most of the Finger Lakes, Lake Ontario, Bay of Quinte and the St. Lawrence River.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marjean Jeffries Bartlett, of Otisco; his son, Jason R. Bartlett (Kristen) of Nedrow and granddaughter, Jade Minnkeim of Elbridge.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
