Charles Nelson Ackerson

April 16, 1947 — November 25, 2021

Charles "Chuck" Nelson Ackerson, 74, died Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the VA Medical Center in Syracuse.

Charles, son of Alfred and Marijean Wagner Ackerson, was born in Brockton, MA on April 16, 1947. He lived in Jackson, Michigan until moving to the North Syracuse area in 1962. Most recently he lived in Bridgeport. Chuck graduated from North Syracuse High School and attended Oswego State University. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Chuck was employed at Sears, ON Center, St. Joseph's Hospital and most recently Home Depot.
He enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and Syracuse sports.

Survivors include sisters and brothers; Bonnie (William) Siiss of Amsterdam, Anne (Bruce) Fina of Constantia, Katharine (John) Bliss of Rochester, Paul (Tracy Coleman) of Rome, Elizabeth (William) Miller of Chittenango, Mark of North Syracuse, Ruth of Syracuse, Joyce Chapman of Cicero, Rochelle (Terry) Davis of Constantia; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a longtime companion Donna Steele and cat Leo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Samantha.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday December 5, 2021 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals from 12PM-1PM. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, K9s For Warriors.
