April 10, 2009
Carole A. Fehrman, 66, a resident of Cicero, New York, passed away Friday following a courageous seven year battle with breast cancer. Carole was born December 30, 1942 to Anthony "Ben" and Anita Mondo in Syracuse, New York. A 1960 graduate of North High School in Syracuse, Carole was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. Carole was employed for many years with CNA Insurance Company, retiring in 2000. She enjoyed traveling, reading, going out to dinner and an occasional trip to the casino, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her children and grandchildren grow. Carole was a big supporter of Komen for the Cure and looked forward to attending the annual Race for the Cure in which every year she wore a hat with an additional ribbon, signifying an additional year of survival.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years: Ronald, her sons; Ronald Jr. (Sharon), Gregory, and Eric (Chris), her parents; Anthony "Ben" and Anita Mondo, her brother; Anthony Mondo Jr., and her beloved grandchildren; Zachary, Austin, Laura, James and Ryan in addition to many relatives and friends.
Services will be Wednesday at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Route 11, Cicero. Carole will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 3-7 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main Street, North Syracuse.
The family would like to thank the numerous friends, family and caregivers that provided tremendous support over the last seven years. A special thanks to the caring staff in the 1-8 Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, particularly Matt who provided tremendous care and support to Carole and her family. Go forward, support……….The Cure.
