Carol Lynch, 87 passed away on December 27, 2021, with loving staff by her side. She was born in New York City, NY on August 5, 1935. Carol has a large OPWDD family and was loved by everyone she met. Carol spent the last six months with the Hillside IRA family, who was by her side and provided loving care in her final days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. And Mrs. James M. Lynch and housemate, Anna Vicari. Surviving family includes Danny Bracy, Mathew Shore, and Scott Roberts.
Carol moved to Deersprings IRA from Oran Gulf in April nine years ago and made the Deersprings family complete with her presence. In 2016 Carol retired from her part-time program at Fairlakes Day Program. Carol was known as "Grandma" by all the staff and her housemates. Carol naturally had the grandma ambiance and was a force to be reckoned with, as she roamed around the house and made her presence be known. She was always feisty but lovable. Carol will forever be remembered as a playful lady, who loved spending time on the back deck or strolling around the neighborhood soaking up the sun. Carol greatly valued her personal space, but always kept an eye on what was going on around her. She had a great sense of humor, laughing anytime anyone was getting into something they shouldn't be.
Carol will forever be part of the Onondaga County OPWDD family and, no doubt, bring a smile to everyone 's face whenever she is thought of. She will be watching from above with her loved ones, eating a hotdog, listening and singing to her favorite songs.
One of Carol's favorite Nursey rhymes songs was " You are my sunshine". We sing in remembrance of you, Carol. You are our Sunshine and will be deeply missed by all!
A service for Carol will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 12 noon.
