Carmella N. 'Mell' Townsend, 40, passed away on Saturday at University Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 23, 1971 in Syracuse daughter of John and Barbara Townsend. She worked at Mama Nancy's. She loved and cherished her grandson, Caleb.
Surviving are her life time companion, Walter Benedict, Sr., son Walter Benedict, Jr., two daughters, Heather and Kristina Benedict, grandson Caleb, two sisters; Colleen (Joseph) McLeod, Georgianna (Michael) Bobik, four brothers; Edward, Peter, Frank Mulvihill and John (Carol) Townsend, III, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Services will be held on Thursday at 9am at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery.
