Carlton F. Schaad, 69, passed away from a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on April 26, 1944 in Clarence Center, NY where he attended local schools until he moved to Mt. Vernon, NY in 1952. After high school he served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968 where he was a medic. He then attended State University of New York in Albany. During his lifetime, Carl held many sales positions and could talk anyone into just about anything.

Carl had a passion for playing baseball when he was younger and was quite good at it. He was even accepted to play shortstop for the New York Met's farm team. He enjoyed cooking steaks and ribs on the grill, eating out with his friends, staying up on current events, reminding everyone to take their vitamin C, and watching college football. When it came to outdoor activities, he thought camping was staying at the Marriott. He was good at playing chess, crossword puzzles, blackjack, poker and anything having to do with problem solving.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents Carlton E. Schaad and Aileene Welsby Schaad. He is survived by his son, Carton E. Schaad of Bellefonte, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Gary Kaiser of Westerville, OH; sister and brother-in-law, Gretchen K. and Charlie Wilmot of Princeton, NJ; and four grandchildren, Connor and Cassie Schaad of State College, PA and Alison and Adam Kaiser of Westerville, OH. One thing Carl will not miss is the snow in Syracuse, although he did enjoy talking about it.

He did not want anyone to know he was sick. Instead of being sad, he would have wanted anyone who knew him and called him a friend to go out and have a drink in his honor. He will be saluting us with his Chivas Regal in heaven.

Funeral Services will be private, just as he was.
