Carlton A. Derby

Carlton A. Derby, 68, of Syracuse, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday.
He served in both the Vietnam and Gulf Wars. Carlton served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, then the US Army from 1972-1976, the US Coast Guard from 1976-1982, and finally settled down with the Air National Guard, serving from 1982 until his retirement in 2006, as a Master Sergeant, after 40 years of honorable service.
Carlton drove for Centro for over 25 years. After retiring from Centro, he drove for Faith Heritage on a volunteer basis.
In 1969, he dedicated his life to Christ. Carlton attended Florida Bible College from 1970-1972. He was a faithful servant who loved talking to people about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Carlton was a very generous and giving son of God who was loved by everyone that he met.
He enjoyed reading God's Word, serving his church and spending time with his stepdaughter and his grandson. His one-of-a-kind personality will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Janice in 2003 and his sister, Brenda Greene.
He is survived by his wife of 7 years, Shawn; his son, Ryan and his wife, Andrea; his stepdaughter, Caitlin; his grandson, Ryan Jr.; his brothers, Herbert, Ralph, and Franklin; his sister, Carolyn Derby-Wallace; his father-and mother-in-law, Bob and Cathy; his brothers-and sisters-in-law, Chris and Brandie and Mike and Brittany; several nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, family and friends.
Visitation will be 10am-12pm on Saturday with a funeral service following at 12:30pm, all services at Greater Love in Christ Church, 2026 Midland Ave., Syracuse. Burial at Kirkville Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Christ is King Baptist Church, Syracuse or Voice of the Martyrs.
