Carl Steere Myrus, 83, of Syracuse died peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2019.
Carl earned an undergraduate degree from Yale University, as well as a Master of Architecture and Master of Historical Preservation. Before entering into his career, Carl served in the US Army.
Carl was known for his singing, and was proud of his role as the Pitchpipe for the Yale Whiffenpoofs (Class of '57). He sang in the DeWitt Community Church Choir for 37 years, as well as Temple Adath Yeshurun, and he would whistle – all the time.
He enjoyed success as an architect, and had influenced the profession through his tenure at Syracuse University School of Architecture. He was Principle Architect at areas firms, had success with his own and worked at Niagara Mohawk. A member of the American Academy of Architects, he had a passion for designing what he called "habitable sculpture".
Carl is predeceased by his son, Adolphe Augustus Myrus ll and his parents, Adolphe Augustus and Marjorie Steere.
He is survived by his daughter Amanda (Barry); grandsons, Zachary and Luke Nestor; and son Whitney White (Ewa); granddaughter, Emma and grandsons, Alex and Oscar Myrus; sister, Molly Swain; wife, Eduarda Bossers, and first wife, Shirley White Myrus.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, January 4th, 2020 at 10:00, at DeWitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Boulevard East, DeWitt, with a memorial service to follow at the church at 12pm.
