Candice J. "Candy" Allen, 65, of N. Syracuse, passed away on Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital with family by her side. She was born on January 22, 1947 in Syracuse, daughter of John and Geraldine Allen.
Candy received her bachelors degree at SUNY Brockport. For 35 years she was a social worker for Onondaga County. She was an active volunteer for many organizations including North Area Meals on Wheels. She was a member of St. Margaret's Choir, was an avid painter and loved animals.
Surviving are her son, Patrick (Cathy) Allen, daughter, Jennifer Allen, 2 granddaughters; Jessica and Emelya, along with several cousins including Terri Hitchcock, Thomas Hitchcock, Anne Wiley, her Aunt Betty Forgan and her family.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Services will be held on Friday 10 am at St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Meal on Wheels or to the SPCA.
