Bynum Lee Holtzclaw

Lee Holtzclaw, 85, of N. Syracuse passed away at Upstate University Hospital, following a long illness. He was born in Altoona, AL. The son of Harvey and Vivian Hotlzclaw. Lee was a WWII Navy veteran who served on the USS Appalachian in the Asiatic Pacific.
After graduation from the University of Alabama with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Lee worked for General Electric as a radar system engineer, traveling to sites in ME, AK, and Australia. He was a member of ELFUN, an organization of GE employees and retirees committed to helping GE families. During retirement, Lee was requested by Lockheed-Martin to work again with the Australian government to design a radar surveillance system.
Previous to his illness, Lee was an active member of Andrews Memorial United Methodist Church. There he served on the finance committee and worship groups. He was on the Board of the Susan Komen Race for the Cure and ran in several races for the Cure. He was a winner in his age category in his last race.
Lee was predeceased by his wife, Barbara in 1995.
Surviving are his sweetheart and longtime companion, Marjorie Strother; five children which include Craig (Belinda), Brian (July), Stuart, Valerie (Paul) Reeves, and Heather; three grandchildren, Jack and Liam Reeves, Gabriella Holtzclaw; one brother Alfred (Shirley) Holtzclaw; and six nephews.
A private service was held at Woodlawn Cemetery.
A Celebration of Lee's Life is planned to be held at Andrews Memorial United Methodist Church, No. Syracuse within the next 2 months. Please check their website.
