Brenda Cartee

Brenda Cartee, 74, of Clay, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2025 after a several year battle with cancer. 

Brenda was born in Syracuse, New York on September 12, 1950 to the late Arthur and Margaret Post. 

Brenda was a loving, devoted mother, raising her two daughters as a single parent since 1999. She was known for her wry sense of humor, caring nature, compassion, and generosity towards loved ones as well as acquaintances. She knew how to make a house feel like a home and how to make a stranger feel like family. 

She enjoyed interior decorating and spending time gardening in the warm months. Her love of reading and computer games kept her mind sharp. She was curious about the world around her and valued education, returning to school at the age of 55 to pursue an Associate’s Degree in paralegal studies at Bryant & Stratton College. 

Brenda was happiest when she was surrounded by her friends and family, including her hosts of nieces and nephews. Her biggest pride was her daughters, Danielle and Rachel.

Brenda worked as a front desk clerk at BOCES Liverpool Main Campus Adult Education for the past 10 years. She greeted everyone that walked through the doors there with a smile and always made an effort to brighten their day. The staff at BOCES returned Brenda’s kindness, offering words of encouragement and support during her illness, for which her family is exceedingly grateful. 

Brenda was preceded in death by father, Arthur Post; mother, Margaret Mary Belknap; eldest brother, Art Post; father of her children, Roger Cartee. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Danielle Cartee and Rachel Cartee; younger brother, Ronald Post; nieces and nephews, Tim, Steve, Michelle, Kelly, Sarah, Brian and Kirsten; her great niece, Margot and great nephew,  Arlo.

There will be a celebration of life for Brenda at a later date.
