Bill Thomson, 85, of Trumansburg, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on October 9, 2017 after complications from COPD, which he struggled with for years.
He spent rewarding years teaching science at South Seneca, where he also enjoyed coaching cross-country and girls' basketball and softball. After retiring from the school, Bill volunteered at Gadabout and drove cars for Cutting Motors and Maguires. He always enjoyed motorcycling, racing homing pigeons, playing in the yard to produce "Bill's Park" and winter trips south and west in his RV. Anyone lucky enough to get to know Bill knew he was fiercely competitive and loved to have a good laugh. He was a very patriotic American and was proud to serve as a US Marine in the Korean War. He will be sorely missed by his wife, family and friends.
Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth Jane "BJ" St. Johns and his parents, Catherine Hamilton and William Thomson.
He is survived by brothers, John (Nancy) Thomson, Cliff (Gail) Thomson; sister, Agnes Piscopo; children from his first marriage, sons, Rodney and Bill (Laurie) and daughter, Janine (Paul) Valenzuela; second wife, Cyndie (Oliver) Thomson; grandchildren, Erika, Shannon, Sarah, William and Aaron and great-grandchildren, Arianna, Aubree, Alessa, Dominick and Colton.
There will be no calling hours or funeral service as per Bill's request. Bill said to love each other, don't waste time with small disagreements and take care of that bucket list. He was a special guy.
