Beverly K. Mahan

December 25, 1932 — April 29, 2020

Beverly K. Mahan slipped away on the morning of April 29th, to begin her next adventure. She passed at the home of her daughter surrounded by love after a long struggle with dementia.

Beverly Jane was born December 25th, 1932 in Ogdensburg NY to Mabel A. (Sizeland) and Charles P. Knapp. She grew up in Heuvelton, NY where everyone knew each other and enjoyed the simple pleasures of country living. She was salutatorian of her graduating class in 1950. Bev graduated from St. Lawrence University Canton, NY, with a BS in Psychology and received her masters in education from SUNY Oneonta.

Beverly taught from 1954 - 1956 in Adams School System and substituted in the Liverpool School District after moving to Liverpool in 1957.

She worked at Sturm Signs, Owasco Beverage and National Glass and retired from BC/BS of CNY in 1998 after ten years of service. Bev subsequently spent so some much time poking around TJ Maxx that they offered her a job! She accepted.

Mom was happiest curled up with a good book. She loved to dance, go to garage sales and spend time with her girls. She kept lifelong friends and cherished them as they did her. Beverly previously volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital, Literacy Volunteers and the clinic and food pantry at Assumption Church.

Beverly was predeceased by her parents, her former husband, Charles E. Mahan, and her faithful dog Muffin.

She is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Cindy Mahan and Michael Proch, Cathy and Steven Dziedzic and Dawn Mahan and John Hart; two grandchildren, Katherine and Thomas Dziedzic; several cousins and many grand dogs and cats.

At her request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Heuvelton.
