Beverly J. (Davis) Carpenter, 79, of Central Square, passed away July 18, 2016 after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family at Crouse Hospital.
Beverly was born in Jordan and graduated from Jordan High School in 1955. She grew up on a farm near the little hamlet of Peru, where she learned to love the outdoors and hard life that comes with farming.
At age 4 she contracted polio and suffered from the effects of that disabling disease for the rest of her life. It did not keep her from living a full life however.
In 1957 she married Adam Carpenter and became a devoted housewife and raised 7 children in a small house in LaFayette. After the kids were all in school, she took on a part time job working for the food service in the LaFayette Schools.
From LaFayette they moved to Liverpool in 1995. After her husband's death in 2009, Beverly moved to Central Square to live with her daughter Chris.
Beverly had many interests, some of which included flowers, gardening, reading, crafts, puzzles and animals, especially horses. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Family gatherings were always a special time for her.
Beverly is survived by her 7 children; Mike (Patty) of North Syracuse, Chris (David) Preston of Central Square, Steve of Fredricksburg, Va, Doug (Lisa) of Nokesville, Va, Dennis (Jennifer) of Oswego, Scot (Lauren) of Kissimmee, Fla and Kevin (Sherri) of Tully; a sister, Barbara Burleigh of Cortland, a brother, Ken Davis of Baldwinsville; 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Beverly's family would like to extend their warmest thanks to the nurses and staff on the 6th floor at Crouse Hospital and 4th floor of Upstate Community therapy unit for the excellent care and attention she received.
