Beverly Jane Bull

April 18, 1927 — May 11, 2019

Beverly Jane Bull, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 11, 2019, following a brief illness.

She will be buried at Glenwood Cemetery in Homer, New York.

Beverly was born on April 18, 1927 in Ogdensburg, New York. Her family subsequently moved to Bath, New York, where her father established a well regarded veterinary practice.

Beverly enjoyed summers at her aunt's cottage on Keuka Lake. Beverly showed an aptitude for music at an early age, starting piano lessons at age 4. During the war years, Beverly regularly entertained wounded soldiers at the Bath VA Hospital, where she and her younger brother, Richard, had a weekly radio show.

After graduating as valedictorian of her class at Haverling High School, Beverly graduated from Elmira College in 1952, majoring in piano and voice.

After college she was a receptionist at Cornell University, where she took graduate studies in voice.

In 1961, Beverly married George H. Bull, Jr. They moved to Cortland, where Beverly served as a choir director and soprano soloist at various churches. In 1971 Beverly and George moved to Homer, where Beverly found her true calling as a private instructor of piano and voice. George built Beverly a studio to house her growing collection of pianos. Beverly had a special aptitude for teaching children, encouraging all to perform in twice yearly recitals. Upon her retirement in 2009, Beverly joined her daughter's family in Liverpool. Beverly continued to share her music, playing and singing at the Kirkpatrick Day Program and the Silver Fox Senior Center.

Beverly was predeceased by her father, Dr. David W. Cheney, DVM; her mother, Mary Coe Cheney; her brothers Robert and Richard Cheney, and her husband, George H. Bull, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Melanie Byers; her son-in-law, Charles "Chazz" Geiwitz; and her grandchildren, Kenny Byers and Kelly Jane Geiwitz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Beverly's memory, to the Central New York chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
