Betty Ann (VanNess) Scriven, 76, of Cicero, NY, passed away on May 21st, 2023 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. She was born December 12, 1946, to Raymond and Lillian VanNess in Glens Falls, NY.
Betty attended Colonie High School, and then obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She worked as an LPN at St. Clare's Hospital for over two decades, and had a brief stint as a Real Estate agent at Rima Realty.
She was married to David B. Scriven, and had three children. She was a dedicated Nurse, and greatly involved in her children's activities including coach and leader of little league, boy scout and girl scout clubs. She worked tirelessly taking care of her family and her patients.
After the death of her husband in February 1990, Betty returned to school to earn her Registered Nursing degree from Maria College. She led a group for widows, and worked as an RN for Community Health Plan in Latham, as well as Glendale nursing home in Schenectady.
In 2008 she married Joseph (Roger) Moquin, and the two continued to happily reside in Schenectady. After a brief period in Florida, in 2015 the couple moved to Cicero NY to be near her Daughter and recently born Granddaughter Allyson. There she enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening.
Betty is predeceased by her parents Raymond VanNess and Lillian (Potter) VanNess, her first husband David B. Scriven, and her beloved sister Mary (VanNess) Mayette. She is survived by her husband, Joseph (Roger) Moquin, and her children David Scriven, Michael Scriven and Rebecca (Scriven) Ortiz, and brothers Raymond and Richard VanNess.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday May 26, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Clare, 1947 Central Ave, Albany NY. Mass will immediately follow at this location at 11 a.m. Burial then follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, NY.
