Bernard (Bernie) Bove, 72, a resident of Liverpool, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family in Baltimore, MD on July 6, 2017.
Bernie was born in Rome, NY on May 15, 1945. He was the youngest son of the late Michael Charles Bove Sr. and Jennie Manglaviti Bove. He was brother to Michael, Albert and his beloved sister Beverly and her husband Frank Polera.
Bernie leaves his wife of 47 years Margaret (Peggy) Purcell Bove and their four children and spouses; John and Megan Bove of Saratoga, NY, Maggie and Al Tyler of Towson, MD, Matthew and Claire Bove of Westminster, MD, David and Gina Bove of Liverpool, NY.
He loved being a Grandpa and Popa to his six grandchildren; Jordan LaRose, Ryan, Hayden and Alex Tyler and Emersyn and Caleb Bove. He also leaves his sister-in-law and friend Kathy Purcell of Pittsburgh, PA, sister in law Fran Bove and brother in law Jim and Eileen Purcell and many nieces and nephews.
Bernie was employed by Owens Illinois in Auburn, NY for 39 years where he was a contributing member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Lodge 2671. Following the mantra of his father-in-law Fred Purcell, to Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way, Bernie chose to lead by serving many years as President and Vice President of his Local Lodge. He was also the owner of Circle Catering in Syracuse, NY.
Bernie was an exceptional Chef and enjoyed cooking for others. He also enjoyed family vacations in the Adirondacks, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Friday July 21 from 5:00pm-8:00pm, New Comer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street, North Syracuse, NY. A Mass to celebrate a life well lived will be held on Saturday July 21 at 10:00 am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 407 South Main Street, North Syracuse, NY. Burial will be held privately.
