Bernice Stevens, 86, of Elbridge, formally Hope Mills, NC was called home by the angels to be with the Lord after a long battle with COPD.
Born in Lumberton, NC, she met her true love Phineas L. Stevens and moved to Upstate NY where they resided for many years and raised a family.
She is predeceased by her sons, Phineas Jr and Rickey Stevens.
Bernice was a devoted wife and mother and is survived by her husband of 67 years. Phineas L. Stevens and children, Helen (Enzo) of Elbridge, NY, David (Cindy) of Elbridge, NY, Carrie (Armin) of Hope Mills, NC, Richard (Marie) of Red Springs, NC, Raymond (Brenda) of Brewerton, NY, Ronald (Angel) of Elbridge, NY, Francine (John) of Constantia, NY, and Scott (Lauren) of East Syracuse, NY.
She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and loving family members who will greatly miss her.
Callings hours will be Sunday 12-2 PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse.
Services will follow at 2 PM.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of CNY Staff for their care and support during her final days.
