Bernard D. Mucitelli

September 2, 1956 — December 29, 2023

Bernard "Moose" D. Mucitelli, 67, of Saratoga Springs, passed away December 29, 2023. Bernard was born in Syracuse, New York on September 2, 1956 to Bernard and Virginia (Pistolese) Mucitelli.

Bernie grew up in Utica, attended St. Francis Desales, Notre Dame Highschool and Hamilton College where he by his own admission he was a star basketball player (and yes admired greatly by others). Bernie would tell you he was the funniest person in the room, but in fairness, he could have a room laughing in no time at all. At a program 6'7", he was large in stature and large in personality. He was immediately the (often irreverent) center of attention anywhere he went or wanted to be.

For over 30 years, Bernie coached his own kids and others in some form of athletics. It was a passion and he was great at it. From girls' softball to boys' baseball and football, he coached teams from Little League to High School (Bishop Grimes) to semi-professional football (Syracuse Sting). If coaching was not enough, he umpired, and refereed for just as many years, if not more. He was a board member of Taft Road Little League, Cicero Falcons Football, IAABO Board #38, at one point serving as Board President. He was the voice of the Zebra Classic Basketball Classic for many years, ensuring not only a supersized announcing narrative for the event, but leant his time, energy and effort to the organization and funding of the event so that high schoolers from all over could experience a true basketball showcase.

In later years, he was quieter in sports but large still in life, as the life of the party in his community, The Meadows, where he was happy visiting the pool, participating in community events and weaving a web of friends that are mourning the loss of their friend.

He loved sports, classic rock, and his vinyl collection is to be admired. The sarcastic skill of his children should be attributed to him.

He was preceded in death by Parents, Bernard J. and Virginia Mucitelli.

He is survived by his Wife, Karen Mucitelli; Daughter, Kristen (Toby Heath) Mucitelli; Three Sons, Bernard J. Mucitelli, Robert (Azure) Mucitelli and Michael (Amy Lathrop) Mucitelli; Three Granddaughters, Isabella Heath, Genevieve Mucitelli and Penelope Mucitelli; Two Sisters, Virna Thibault and Adeline (David) Preston; Brother; Arthur (Terri) Mucitelli.
