Beatrice M. Whitty, of Syracuse and formerly of Fleetwood/Mt.Vernon, NY, where she lived for over 60 years, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at home. She was born in Trenton, NJ to Andrew J. McDonough and Kathryn (Gilmartin) McDonough. She attended schools in Rockaway Valley and Denville, NJ and Morrisville, PA and graduated from St. Mary's Cathedral in Trenton, NJ. She was a parishioner for many years with St. Joseph's Parish, Bronxville, NY and St. Peter and Paul, Mt. Vernon, NY. Bea worked for many years in Retail Store Management and Operations for Arnold Constable Fifth Avenue, N.Y.C. and New Rochelle, NY and Genung's, Mt Vernon, NY.

Retiring in 1994, she lived in Tuscon, AZ and Scottsdale, AZ for nearly ten years and then returning to Upstate New York in 2006 to her new home in Liverpool, NY. Bea was a member of the Pine Island New Rochelle Rowing Club and had the following interests; N.Y.C. Broadway Theatre, dancing, and her love of jazz and swing music, avid reader of biographies and historical European royalty, travel throughout the US and vacationed each summers in Cape Cod, MA and Woonsocket, RI with family.

To best describe her, she was an achiever of life, understanding human kind and had a wonderful devotion to her family and a deep abiding faith. She was a person who "LOVED UNCONDITIONALLY", a rare quality learned well from her faith through God's grace. Bea is predeceased by her husband, James J. Whitty in 1972, a brother, George F. McDonough, Fresno, CA and a sister, Virginia M. Spencer, Woonsocket, RI.

Bea is survived by two daughters, Jean C. Whitty Clark and son-in-law Richard E. Clark of Liverpool, N.Y. and Theresa K. Murphy and son-in-law Richard Murphy of Canyon Lake, CA; two granddaughters, Stacy A. Fischer of Chandler, AZ, Patty L. Murphy of Seattle, WA . and great-grandson, Reece Cameron Fischer of Chandler, AZ.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., North Syracuse, NY 13212. A funeral mass will be held Monday, 11AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool, NY. Burial will be Tuesday, 11 AM in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, Westchester County, NY.
