Barbara (Totten) Martel 66, of Bernhard's Bay and formerly of Hamilton, NY, passed away on Friday at her home with family by her side. She was born on August 27, 1947 in Oneida, 3 minutes after her twin sister, Gretchen.

Barbara graduated from Hamilton Central School in 1965 and from Albany Business College in 1966. She was married to Paul B. Martel, Jr. on October 4, 1975. He passed away in 2002, after 26 years loving years of marriage. Barbara was a loving and proud mother who never missed an important event in her daughter's life. One of her proudest moments was recently seeing her daughter graduate from Albany Law School. Barbara was a very caring and giving mother and friend. Barbara previously owned the Valley Peddler in Bouckville, NY and was last employed at P.M. Jones in Hamilton. She was an avid gardener, card player and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at Panther Lake and in Hamilton.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul, two step-sons, Erik and Randy Martel, her parents, and her brother, Peter.

Surviving are her daughter, Melissa E. Martel and boyfriend, John D. Felton, her sister, Gretchen A. Baxter, her brother, Joseph "Skip" (Jacqueline) Totten, daughter-in-law, Tina Martel and her fiancée, Jimmy Peckham, nephew, Christopher Baxter and family, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Hamilton. There are no calling hours.
