Barbara M. Olson, 76, of Nedrow passed away on May 26, 2023 after a long illness.
Barb was born in Chicago, Il and grew up in Bedford, MA. She graduated from Ithaca College with a BA in Physical Education. Upon graduation, she began her teaching career at Onondaga Central High School where she was a pioneer starting women's high school sports to actual competitive sports.
Barb coached softball, volleyball, soccer and was a cheerleading advisor. Barb's great coaching love was softball and she was rewarded with an award for top coach in Onondaga County. Barb retired from OCS in 2002 after 32 years of teaching.
Barb was an avid golfer, golfing in three golf leagues and always winning top prize. She was also a lover of music.
Barb was predeceased by her parents, Frederick Olson and Mayde Harlon Olson.
She is survived by her brother, William Olson of Florida and many loving friends. She was known as Aunt Barbie to all her friend's children.
Per Barb's wishes there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Knoxie's Pub in Pompey.
