Arlene S. Cottongim, 85, of Clay, passed away March 18, 2022.
Arlene was born in Syracuse, New York on March 22, 1936 to the late Henry and Dorothy Schmidt.
Arlene retired from New York Power Authority. She had previously been employed with the Onondaga County Sheriff's Juvenile Transport Division.
She was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She recently moved from Delaware to Syracuse to spend more time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Ryan Fried and companion, Don Witmer.
She is survived by her daughter, Dori (Paul) Fried; son, Leonard "Cotton" Cottongim, III; grandson, J.P. Fried; granddaughter, Jenna Fried; and great-grandson, Nathan Ryan Fried.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 2:00pm, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, North Syracuse, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
