Antonino "Freddy" Alfredo Sortino, 66, of Syracuse, passed away August 14, 2023. Antonino was born on July 27, 1957 to the late Ferdinando and Concetta Sortino. Freddy was born in Villafranca, Sicula, Provincia di Agrigento, Sicilia. He moved to Utica, NY as a young boy. He attended St. Mary of Mount Carmel grammar school and Utica Free Academy.
Freddy partnered with Tony Kistner to open Napoleon Cigar Company along with many other business adventures. He worked at Highpoint Lawn Services for many years where he met Mike Archer and Shawn Segouin, and together they formed Salt City Lawn Care in 2019.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Rosario "Za" Sortino, and Roberto "Fino" Sortino. He is survived by his daughter, Congetta "Getta" (Corey) Hartnagle; brother, Fernando "Ferd" Sortino; former spouse, Melodye "Mel" (Wheeler) Shampine; step-daughter, Cari Eddy and her son Jaret Wahl; granddaughter, Henley D'Onofrio; grandson, Caiden Hartnagle; good friend, Deborah Berg; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and all of the kids he filled a fatherly role for throughout his life.
Calling hours are Sunday, August 20, 2023 from 12:00 pm-2:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals - North Syracuse, 705 N. Main St, Syracuse.
